‘Day 4’ tempts us with: "How To Turn The People Who Said ‘No’ Into Profit"
In essence, this video enlightens us with practical ways of avoiding prospects saying no to your business – useful to know in my opinion!
We are then told that one single thing affects every action that we take and every decision that we make – are you ready for this? ...
"The desire to avoid pain or acquire pleasure"
One example of this that we’re given is that when our prospects say no, it’s because “the perceived pleasure they would gain from starting a business did not out-weigh the pain of the start-up costs, or moving outside their comfort zone”.
Now I can personally relate to this – my ‘inner devil’ told me that I couldn’t afford the start-up cost. However, the pleasure of actually running my own business (with the future pleasure of sacking my boss) outweighed the pain of the joining fee – so I went for it – smart move!
I am now an online and offline business owner and internet marketer (and enjoying every minute of it).
So, what drives our actions and decisions? – It’s pure emotion! I FEEL good about having bought into a business that will generate residual income for me (pleasure acquired) or about eventually not going to a job I don’t really like (pain avoided).
However, we still need to justify our decision with logic, says Mike. For example, I bought into my primary opportunity because it’s a duplicatable, tried and tested system that works.
But Mike warns us that we still need to be careful, otherwise buyer’s remorse may result. We must ensure that prospects believe that the decision to join our opportunity is theirs.
How do we do that? … by continually marketing to them over a period of time.
This may require days for some and weeks or months for others, since every one is different – but the idea/decision to join needs to be theirs and in their own time (not the sponsor’s timescale).
Mike then reveals 3 of 6 key points relating to human nature that we MUST know in order to be the most effective marketers possible:
- The desire to acquire pleasure or avoid pain (ok, I know, this one’s already been done!).
- The majority of people are lazy. They want better, faster and cheaper.
- People would rather learn HOW to do something, than actually do it.
As for the third point, most people would rather purchase the hope of a result instead of actually working for it.
So, with being informed on Day 4 that 80% of prospects and distributors are unlikely to join your opportunity (the unavoidable 80/20 rule), there is a need to tackle the problem of profitability – the answer is to turn that 80% majority into a profitable part of your business.
