We are introduced to ‘Day 2’ with the announcement:
“How To Get Your Prospects To Buy Anything You Sell”
Mike tells us that our product is not what you and I, as networkers, really think it is and explains why, quoting Perry Marshall:
What this boils down to is that people are just looking to find a solution to their problem, whatever that may be. Our objective as Network Marketers is to position our opportunity as the solution to their problem, BUT we need to overcome a few challenges first in order to position ourselves successfully, i.e. taking into account the fact that:Nobody who bought a drill actually wanted a drill. They wanted a hole. Therefore, if you want to sell drills, you should advertise information about making holes - NOT information about drills!
- We can’t sell
- People don’t like being sold to (they like to buy!)
- We’re just seen as sales people
So, it makes perfect sense to me that we should get our prospects to sell themselves on using our opportunity as the tool with which to accomplish their goals (find a solution to their problem)

Our job is to market useful information because that’s what consultants do.
